Art Center Haihatus and House Of Cinetic Art

Taidelaitos Haihatus Haihatus Art Institution is a unique cultural center located in Joutsa, whose sculpture park and gallery spaces offer experiences for the whole family. Kineettisen taiteen talo KITA The House of Kinetic Art, KITA, is a unique gallery blending science, art, and mysticism, located on a plot opening directly onto Highway E75. KITA exhibitions flirt with the magical. The 2025 summer exhibition, Kitka, features contemporary works by renowned and international artists. As a new initiative, KITA will also present the Playhouse Village community art project in summer 2025.

Café Meijerinliiteri ja Suonteen soitto -concerts

The summer café, Café Meijerinliiteri, is located in the idyllic yard of a 300-year-old farm. In addition to seasonal products made from local ingredients, Meijerinliiteri offers treats for the culturally curious: the Suonteen soitto summer concert series, art exhibitions at Galleria Jäähuone set in an old stone barn, and the cultural-historical exhibition Juuret (“Roots”) spread across the storehouses, inviting visitors to immersive experiences. The yard also features a storehouse boutique, a summer dress flea market, and a cottage library. Welcome to enjoy!

Joutsan Joutopäivät 5.-6.7.2025

The traditional Joutsa Joutopäivät will be held again next summer, on July 5–6, 2025. The program includes, among other things, a themed rural market and the music-filled Evening at the Open-Air Museum event, which traditionally draws a large audience to enjoy great performances and summer encounters. This year, the headline performer for Joutopäivät is Jannika B, and the rural market theme celebrates the sahti brewing tradition.

In the museum’s yard, visitors can immerse themselves in rural life as it was centuries ago. The buildings, ranging from the main house to the windmill, mostly date from the 19th century, with the oldest storehouse originating from the early 18th century. The museum area also features a covered hillside stage/bleacher building, which hosts a variety of cultural events, from summer theater to the traditional Joutsa Joutopäivät festival. The museum is open in the summer and is maintained and rented out by the Joutsa Local Heritage Association.

Letkaliiteri

The atmospheric dance barn, Letkaliiteri, and the adjacent Letkakahvio café form the vibrant heart of Rutalahti village during the summer. Originally built as a threshing barn for the Jussila farm in 1949, Letkaliiteri has hosted dances since the 1950s. The dance season opens on Midsummer’s Eve and continues through August. Letkakahvio serves visitors from Midsummer until early August, including boaters from the nearby harbor. Throughout the summer, Letkaliiteri also hosts a variety of events, from flea market days to movie nights.

August is the month of joy! Joutsa Kino, the cinema maintained by the Municipality of Joutsa, operates in the idyllic and nostalgic Youth Association building. For the third time, the Ilokuvafestival will bring last season’s highlights and enticing preview screenings to the big screen—along with accompanying programs that enhance the atmosphere. The Ilokuvafestival celebrates feel-good films, happy endings, and uplifting stories!

Summer begins in Haihatus - new contemporary art exhibition opens at the end of June

The Haihatus Art Centre and the Kita Kinetic Art House will open their traditional summer exhibitions on the weekend after Midsummer. Haihatus' Enchantment and Kita Gallery's Kitka will introduce the viewer to the world of art through play and playfulness. Haihatus' extensive sculpture garden will be complemented by dozens of new works and will also offer the opportunity to spend the night among the art.

Summer cultural oasis Café Meijerinliiteri opens

Joutsa's summer café and cultural oasis Café Meijerinliiteri will open its doors for the summer season 2025 on Wednesday 25.6. at 12.00. The Torpa Girl & Atelier Honkasalo summer boutique and the summer exhibitions of Galleria Jäähuone and Talligalleria will also open at the same time. The first Suonteen ringing concert will take place on Friday 27.6.

Summer trip to Haihatus Art Centre is an accessible art adventure for the whole family

Located in Joutsa in south-central Finland, the aim of the Haihatus Art Centre is to be an accessible destination for art tours for all ages. The Haihatus Summer 2025 offer combines imaginative art experiences with the summer atmosphere of a small rural village. Situated on the side of the Nelostie, a convenient day trip from Jyväskylä, Lahti or Mikkeli, Haihatus is an original summer destination for the whole family.

Doll Landia presents the world of horses in miniature

The Doll Landia dolls” home village, which has moved to a new address on Jousitie, is hosting an exhibition entitled ”The World of Horses in Pienoiskoo", put together by young enthusiasts Eve and Epa from Ylöjärvi. The exhibition features more than 1 000 Schleich-size objects, including horses, stables and riding arenas. The exhibition is on display until 31 August.
