Art Center Haihatus and House Of Cinetic Art
Taidelaitos Haihatus In Joutsa, Haihatus invites visitors to experience a multidisciplinary summer exhibition and relax in a lush garden surrounded by art, nature, and traditional outdoor games. Haihatus is an experiential cultural destination for the whole family, where art can be enjoyed at your own pace and visitors are encouraged to linger. The summer café offers vegan treats, and Art Camping makes it possible to stay overnight in a unique environment immersed in art. In addition, Haihatus coordinates the open-to-all Kukkiva Kylä (Blooming Village) community garden in the center of Joutsa.

The House of Kinetic Art KITA is a unique gallery blending science, art, and mysticism, located on a site directly visible from Highway 4 (E75). KITA’s exhibitions verge on magic. The summer exhibition 2026 features current works by well-known and international artists. The surroundings of the KITA Gallery often host multidisciplinary programs and events. In the KITA garden, visitors will also find the LEKA Playhouse Village, an open and freely accessible play area for everyone.

Café Meijerinliiteri ja Suonteen soitto -concerts
Summer café Café Meijerinliiteri is located in the idyllic courtyard of a 300-year-old farm. In addition to seasonal products made from local ingredients, Meijerinliiteri offers treats for cultural appetites as well: the Suonteen soitto summer concert series, art exhibitions at Galleria Jäähuone and Talligalleria, and the cultural-historical exhibition Juuret, are also waiting for you at Meijerinliiteri. The courtyard also features Maya’s Vintage dress flea market, a granary boutique selling local products, and a small cottage library. Welcome to enjoy!

Joutsan Joutopäivät -festival 4.-5.7.2026
The traditional Joutsan Joutopäivät festival will be held for the 54th time next summer. The program includes, among other things, lively traditional country market and the music-filled Evening at the House Museum event, which traditionally draws a large audience to enjoy great performers in the warm summer night.
Joutsa house museum
In the museum’s yard, visitors can immerse themselves in rural life as it was centuries ago. The buildings, ranging from the main house to the windmill, mostly date from the 19th century, with the oldest storehouse originating from the early 18th century. The museum area also features a covered hillside stage/bleacher building, which hosts a variety of cultural events, from summer theater to the traditional Joutsa Joutopäivät festival. The museum is open in the summer and is maintained and rented out by the Joutsa Local Heritage Association.


Letkaliiteri's summer
The atmospheric dance barn, Letkaliiteri, and the adjacent Letkakahvio café form the vibrant heart of Rutalahti village during the summer. Originally built as a threshing barn for the Jussila farm in 1949, Letkaliiteri has hosted dances since the 1950s. The dance season opens on Midsummer’s Eve and continues through August. Letkakahvio serves visitors from Midsummer until early August, including boaters from the nearby harbor. Throughout the summer, Letkaliiteri also hosts a variety of events, from flea market days to movie nights.

JOUTSAN KINO – MOVIE FESTIVAL 30.7.–2.8.
August is the month of joy! Joutsa Kino, the cinema maintained by the Municipality of Joutsa, operates in the idyllic and nostalgic Youth Association building. For the third time, the Ilokuvafestival will bring last season’s highlights and enticing preview screenings to the big screen—along with accompanying programs that enhance the atmosphere. The Ilokuvafestival celebrates feel-good films, happy endings, and uplifting stories!
